Hong Kong School Drama Festival 2025/26
On 5th March, our English Drama Club celebrated their high-spirited play “The Guardians of the Dreams” at the Hong Kong School Drama Festival 2025/26. Their dedicated preparation efforts eventually came to fruition, when they stunned the audience and the adjudicators with their splendid performance. Not only did our members combine acting, singing and dancing seamlessly, but they also showcased the power of camaraderie and commitment. This spectacle wrapped up touchingly with an eruption of profound emotions – a mixture of pride and relief.
Now, the results of the Festival have been released. The team gladly received several remarkable honours, which include Award for Outstanding Performer, Award for Outstanding Stage Effects, Award for Outstanding Cooperation and Award for Commendable Overall Performance. Congratulations to the superb team! |

My favourite part was definitely when we officially performed it in front of a real audience. Though I was terribly nervous, a spark of excitement budded in my heart, convincing me that I deserved the spotlight no matter what character I was acting. Splendid show indeed, everyone!

As an introvert, I really cherish drama as an invaluable learning opportunity since the activities keep me engaged and turn me into a more sociable, outgoing person. Through the experience, I realize that I shouldn’t pay too much attention to others’ validation or doubt myself harshly. On top of that, I have learnt a lot of different theatrical techniques and knowledge, including the purpose of sharing the space!

This is the second year that I’ve joined the English Drama Club. It is the most profound year of the club’s career as we are as well preparing for our school’s anniversary celebration. Arduous as the practice might seem, I will remind myself to remain optimistic and set a clear goal for myself!

I was a bit shy to stand on a stage when I first started, but after accumulating experiences, I finally have the courage and confidence to act expressively. Although I didn’t get a major role, I still did my utmost and portrayed my character with a range of facial expressions.

I have not only learnt the skills of acting, but also met many like-minded friends. I still vividly remember the memorable moment a couple of us burst into tears after the performance at the Drama Festival. We felt so proud of ourselves for building up the show together!

Despite my reluctance, I was invited by the coach and got the interesting roles of a student and a monster (part) – which forms the whole by combining with other five actors. The biggest challenge was that I needed to carry a weighty flag, which serves as one of the monster’s wings. I thought the formation of the monster was unexplainably strange, but with our incredible coordination, we succeeded in forming the perfect shape of it and bringing it to life in our showcase.

In this year’s production, I performed as a student, Prophet 1 and one of the monsters. From this experience, I have learned that if there is no side character, the main characters can never truly be complete. Good show, guys!

It just feels so magical to take on different roles and be someone else. Although memorizing the script and lyrics can be difficult, with enough practice it becomes manageable. I feel really thankful to my drama teachers and fellow club members for guiding and supporting me throughout this fascinating journey. |
Student Reflection by Yeung Lok Ting, Natalie (2C)
My first impression of drama was simply that of an actor reading lines and expressing out a character’s emotions. But after I started participating, I realized that drama is way more than that - it is about being dramatic in a fun way and working as a team to bring a great show to life.

Over the past years in drama, I have met so many amazing people who have shared the same passion for acting and helped me explore the psyche in making a character feel real. Despite the several moments I felt like I was mediocre, the coach gave me confidence and trusted that I could portray such an important character in the story. This pushed me to give my all! |
Student Reflection by Chan Hoi Tung, Quincy (3C)
This year, I decided to try working backstage because I wanted to experiment with my creative ideas to spice up the show. Although the tasks seem easy, in reality the job is important. The backstage team is responsible for changing scenes, moving props, playing music and sound effects, helping with costumes and much more! |
Student Reflection by Yiu Ka Fung, Michael (5A)
Being backstage, we often encounter amusing mishaps— forgetting to unmute microphones, playing the wrong music or setting up the wrong backdrop. These fond moments in the club have become some of the most cherished memories in my secondary school life! |
